Abstract
Science City 1550–1800: The Linbury Gallery, which opened in 2019, explores the science of early modern London, showcasing the scientific instrument collections of the Science Museum, Kings College London and the Royal Society. This text is from an exhibit in the form of a printed book, that showcases and interprets some of the illustrations from a manual created by celebrated 18th century scientific instrument maker George Adams. The manual accompanied a suite of pneumatic apparatus commissioned by King George III in the early 1760s shortly after his ascension to the throne.
